MODERN CHURCH

KEY POINTS FROM THE BOOK OF ACTS TO GUIDE OUR MISSION

  1. Effectiveness: The church grew from 120 (Acts 1:15) to over 3,000 (Acts 2:41) on the day of Pentecost, and then 5,000 (Acts 4:4) after Peter addressed the crowd when healing the beggar at the Temple.

    • You might be familiar with the story when Peter and John were just going about their day heading to the Temple… They encountered a lame beggar asking them for money. And then Peter said to him “silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you”. Act 3:11 tells us “While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

    • Even though Peter and John weren’t seeking large crowds, large crowds FOUND THEM when God moved through them. They weren’t clout chasing! These same opportunities will be presented to us, and if handled correctly we’ll experience exponential growth for the Kingdom.

  2. Holy Spirit Guidance: On the day of Pentecost, after the Holy Spirit fell on the leaders, every other person in attendance heard testimonies in their native language (Acts 2: 7-11) Here we are—Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people.

  3. The Passion of Peter: Peter testified and exhorted those in the crowd on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:40) We Have to Become Kingdom Enthusiasts.

  4. God-Ordained Growth: Acts 2:46-47

    • They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity - all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

What is House Ministry?

  • Allows for collective spiritual growth

  • Enables authentic fellowship ( Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them )

  • Establishes organic community development

  • Provides an opportunity for perpetual discipleship

How will this church practice House Ministry?

  1. We have The One Experience, we have Activate Online, Community Groups, One Fam, volunteer groups, outreaches, and House Ministry we have people to connect with more often than before!

  2. In addition to our primary events, House Ministry gives us an opportunity to really.

  3. Build beyond Sunday and Thursday. (Prayer, Communion, Baptisms.)

  4. Raising up leaders! As Pastor Toure mentioned, we have a global footprint and many of you will be the leaders that establish ONE in your regions. We will be equipping you and providing the resources needed (such as ONE.FAM) to enable you to lead wherever you are.
